Sigma Zeta Activities Calendar

Fall Events

Organize and hold your first local chapter meeting.  This is a good time to plan the upcoming year as well as wrap up your previous year.  Check to see if your chapter submitted annual reports for last year, including Local Campus Chapter Annual Activity Report for the previous year and Local Campus Chapter Officers for the new year. If not, then submit:

  • Arrange Fall event / activities centered around the Annual National Service Theme
  • Hold a Fall Banquet and invite a local expert in science or math to speak
  • Hold a Fall fundraiser to raise money for activities, research, or for supporting attendance at the National Convention
  • Hold a Fall Induction Ceremony for New Members and be sure to submit a list of all your new inductees using the New Member Report Form.

November

The National Officers Meeting is held in early November to manage and plan for National Chapter activities and processes.  All chapter advisors are welcome to participate.

Applications for Sigma Zeta Research Awards are Due November 1 each year.

Spring

  • Arrange Spring event / activities centered around the Annual National Service Theme
  • Hold a Spring Banquet and invite a local expert in science or math to speak
  • Hold a Spring fundraiser to raise money for activities, research, or for supporting attendance at the National Convention
  • Hold a Spring Induction Ceremony for New Members and be sure to submit a list of all your new inductees using the New Member Report Form.
  • Remind your Campus Faculty Advisor to order Graduation Medallions for all graduating seniors.  Early March is a good time to order so that all is ready for graduation.

National Convention

      • Plan for your chapter to attend the National Convention held in late March to early April.
      • Plan to present an oral or poster session at the National Convention about your Junior, Senior, or Summer research projects.
      • Collate all of your great chapter activities and apply for the Most Active Chapter to win the Founder's Cup Award to display on your campus for the next year.
      • If you have had an outstanding leader/member in your chapter nominate them for a Chapter Honor Award
