McKenzie McGee, Alpha Beta, Campbellsville University
McKenzie McGee has been a member of the Alpha Beta chapter, where she has served as both secretary and president. Her contributions to the chapter’s success/growth can hardly be measured; under her leadership, participation and excitement among officers and members increased greatly. This change was brought about not by ordering people around but by leading from the front. McKenzie does not ask anything of anyone that she would not do; she is first to arrive and last to leave. No matter how full her hands get with balancing class and extracurriculars, she never fails to have a smile and a kind word to share. Outside of classes, McKenzie is on the archery team, she is an RA, she is a worship leader, she is a freshmen mentor, and she is the secretary for the Green Minds club. When it came to planning the national convention, nobody worked harder or did more than Mckenzie. She did not get discouraged when unexpected roadblocks came up but bounced back and adapted. On top of planning the convention, she was doing her own research, which she is presenting at this convention. She only joined Sigma Zeta last year, but her impact has been immense on both our chapter and our university.
Olivia Zimmerman, Gamma Eta, Marian University
Olivia Zimmerman has served as the Secretary for Sigma Zeta National Honor Society Gamma Eta chapter for the past two years. Sigma Zeta Honor Society is one of the largest and most active groups on campus, hosting multiple activities every semester and in the summer. Olivia has been a constant at these activities behind the scenes planning, organizing and implementing. Olivia has excelled as a student, supplemental instructor, and leader. She has succeeded in her academic courses with a GPA of 4.0 pursuing a B.S. in Biology and a minor in Pastoral Leadership and Spanish. Olivia is an exemplary student, compassionate individual, and outstanding leader who is an outstanding representative of Sigma Zeta and Marian University.
She has excelled academically and demonstrated exceptional motivation, and this was recognized in the Spring of 2024 when she was awarded the Purichia Award for Outstanding Biology Student. She is a very bright, dedicated, and exceptionally hardworking student. Olivia consistently exhibited a strong passion for learning, preparedness, curiosity, and resilience, and she completed her courses at the top of her class. Olivia’s leadership qualities are unmistakable. She is a San Damiano scholar, which is a scholarship program with very high requirements in terms faith formation and service to the community. Beyond the San Damiano program, Olivia’s dedication to service includes many hours of volunteerism. She has a dedication to healthcare, academic excellence, and unwavering commitment to her community.
Grace Rout, Rho, University of Indianapolis
I would like to nominate Grace Rout for the Sigma Zeta Honor Award. She has been outstanding in her role as president of the Sigma Zeta Rho chapter and has gone above and beyond in expanding the breadth and depth of the activities hosted by Sigma Zeta, outreach to the community, and support of the chapter members. She is wildly passionate about this role, both as president of the Rho chapter and as the national student representative for Sigma Zeta. This is not just something she can put on her CV or resume, this is an opportunity she cares deeply for and has lots of drive and determination to carry out goals for the chapter and society. She has helped to arrange induction ceremonies, write newsletters for the national chapter, host several meetings, and more. Grace never looks for or takes the easy way out, and she is extremely committed to making the Rho chapter inviting and active on campus and in the community. She has done an exceptional job balancing all her tasks and dreams for the chapter along with her responsibilities involved with being a double-major in her senior year completing an honors project. Grace’s passion for the role has extended out into the rest of the chapter, and we have seen more volunteer opportunities and extracurricular activities in both academic and leisure contexts under her leadership. Even before serving as president, she was an active member in the society and always willing to lend a hand or an ear whenever necessary. If you ever need someone to get a job done or help you out in any situation, she is the one to turn to. Not only has Grace been incredible as president and as student representative, she is also an amazing classmate, peer, and friend. She is always looking out for those around her, willing to go out of her way to help her peers and makes sure everyone’s voice is heard. I could genuinely spend hours talking about how reliable, trustworthy, creative, funny, inspiring, helpful, and all-around wonderful Grace is as a Sigma Zeta member and as a person and friend. It has been a pleasure and a true honor to have served on the Rho chapter’s board with Grace, and I could not think of a more deserving candidate for this Honor Award.
Seema Mustafa, Gamma Gamma, Concordia College
Seema is the president of Sigma Zeta club on campus and has represented the group at different events on campus. She has helped recruit members for Sigma Zeta trip and has completed money request for travel expenses. She is also part of the student government that helps fund our trip to the conference.

Committee Report
This year, the International Sigma Zeta Honor Society is launching a meaningful service initiative that challenges each chapter to actively engage in community service. Chapters are encouraged to focus their efforts on sustainability, STEM education, and humanitarian needs both on their campuses and within their broader communities. Whether organizing environmental clean-ups, mentoring students in science and technology, or supporting local outreach programs, this initiative is an opportunity for members to apply their knowledge and skills to create a positive and lasting impact.
To celebrate and share these efforts, we ask that chapters take pictures throughout the year to document their service activities and post them in the Sigma Zeta Discord under the Service Project channel. These contributions will be compiled and showcased on social media and in a slideshow at the 2027 National Convention, highlighting the collective impact of Sigma Zeta members nationwide. At the convention, we will also recognize outstanding dedication by selecting the chapter that made the greatest impact through acts of service and awarding them the first-ever Sigma Zeta Community Service Award!

We propose the following edits to the Sigma Zeta website:
An advisor/president log-in to the website, which would be designed to:
View the full convention schedule and details within a secure portal
Prevent the public from seeing every detail of the convention
Improve security and privacy for students presenting
Provide a conveniency for direct messaging between advisors and presidents from each chapter
Include a more clearly titled “forms” section to make it easier to locate various forms
Implement a “search bar” tool which would allow for easier and more efficient navigation of the website
More pictures of the hosting college / picture of the chapter who won the Founder’s Cup on the “Home” page throughout the year
Include information about previous award winners

Committee Report
The committee gathered to discuss options for Sigma Zeta to make a positive impact on the communities surrounding the chapters. The attempts are aimed at promoting science education, environmental stewardship, and providing support for local students and schools. These initiatives are designed to encourage sustainable practices within the scientific field.
Summary of the Proposed Projects:
Donation of old school supplies: A proposal was discussed to organize a donation drive for local schools using graduated students left-over school supplies, and leftover supplies. This will include folders, writing utensils, binders, backpacks, and any other supplies. Including this initiative would strengthen nearby schools and build teamwork in the chapters participating.
Future Sigma Zeta: The committee proposed high schoolers have the option to join a Sigma Zeta chapter that is specifically oriented towards them. This new extracurricular would introduce high schoolers to the realm of research and will allow them to network with like-minded students. Future Sigma Zeta would encourage high schoolers to engage in the scientific field, and could aid their decision of whether they choose to attend university.
Visit Local Elementary Schools: This initiative is designed to engage with the younger population of people and get them excited about science and math. Hands-on experiments, interactive conversations, and demonstrations can aid younger students with inspiring them to engage in science and they can feel first-hand the excitement of a discovery.
Donation of Laboratory Supplies: The committee discussed donating laboratory supplies to local high schools. This will include supplies that are excess, old, or unused. This initiative will ensure high schoolers have the materials needed for conducting experiments and expanding their problem-solving.
Advise High School Students with College: A proposal intended to engage university students with local high schoolers was opened for discussion about advising high schoolers about their major or whether they will choose college. This will aid in reducing the pressure of making a selection alone, or uneducated.
Clean-Up Efforts Around Local Lakes: As part of the committee’s commitment to environmental sustainability, the discussion was held for organizing a lake clean-up initiative near the universities. This project would improve the local environment, and would be a way for the chapters to interact with one another.
Assistance With Forest Maintenance: The committee proposed a collaborative effort to aid with the maintenance of local forests. This could include a large project like helping after a natural disaster, or something smaller like cleaning the shores of the lake from any garbage. This effort would contribute to the health of the ecosystem surrounding the chapters, and it allows students to practice environmental stewardship.
These actions will be further explored in future meetings, and it is each individual chapter’s responsibility to use this template as some examples of how to positively impact the community around them. The promotion of scientific education and interaction with the younger generations of students is crucial to the survival of our program. These initiatives aim to make a meaningful difference in the community while encouraging others to pursue an interesting science and knowledge.
